COMMUNAL ANOINTING OF THE SICK: The Catholic Community of Holy Family, St. Alphonsus, Sacred Heart and Saint Ann’s invites you to a healing Mass centered on the celebration of the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick on Sunday, October 20th, 3:00 PM, the HOUR of Mercy, at the Church of Holy Family! The sacrament is an act of faith; the faith of the recipient who welcomes and believes in the healing power of God, and the faith of the church, which looks to Christ’s death and resurrection as the source of this healing power. This Sacrament is administered to bring spiritual and physical strength during an illness. This Sacrament offers peace and courage to overcome the difficulties that are associated with disease, illness or dying. People of all ages can avail themselves of the grace of this sacrament. Anointing of the Sick is encouraged for anyone that is in danger of death from sickness or old age, and also immediately before a serious operation. Those suffering from severe mental disorders are also encouraged to seek the peace of Christ in the Anointing. This Sacrament can be repeatedly administered to a person if his/her condition becomes worse, or a new serious condition develops, and is recommended for the elderly as they become more and more frail. We encourage you to bring the sick person to this communal celebration of the sacrament of the sick.
